A man who went from leading the army of Rome as its general, to fighting for his freedom as a slave, making his way through the blood of the colosseum. Along the way, Maximus makes new enemies and friends, all while fighting for his life each step of the way. The journey begins after the death of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, leading Maximus to seek vengeance for those responsible for the later murder of his wife and son.
